Georgia Climbing Competition

Each Spring, the GA Arborist Association holds a climbing competition. This year New Urban Forestry will be sending six of our crew members to this event.  It's uncommon for a tree company to have so many climbers at this skill level, and sending this number to a competition is almost unprecedented .  In short, we're stacked in talent and we have more coming up through the ranks.

NUF held an in house climbing competition several years ago at a park in Winterville.

We can attribute this to a solid training program here at NUF where we often hire individuals with little or no climbing experience and bring them to a point where they can skillfully conduct any tree care measure from reduction pruning to whole tree removals.

Arborist tree climbing competitions involve a number of events that are relevant to the workplace. These include: speed ascent, belayed speed climb, throw line (climbing rope installation), work climb and aerial rescue.  Scoring is based on safety, speed and audible communication between the climber and the judges on the ground.

Competitive tree climbers are industrial athletes that use their smarts in addition to strength, flexibility and endurance much like athletes you see on tv.  Our climbers at NUF have all of these qualities and more.  They're not only very talented but they're also personable, meticulous and accommodating to clients' requests.  Additionally, according to the most recent Athens Favorites- Flagpole Readers Picks, NUF crew members were voted the most attractive in town.
